Join us in promoting positive change in the Kratom industry
Our Mission
This film’s central mission is to shed light on the kratom industry from a rarely explored, non-consumer perspective.
While consumers primarily recognize kratom for its consumption, for the people of West Kalimantan, the kratom tree plays a crucial role in the region’s economy, community way of life, and environmental ecosystem.
Economy
- Diverse job opportunities for local residents
- Higher income potential for families
- Stable, year-round employment
- Rapid growth in export markets
- Increased investment in local infrastructure and facilities, boosting overall community development
Environment
- Resistant to floods
- Native to the region, supporting the local ecosystem
- Helps prevent soil erosion and improves riverbank stability
- Sustainable alternative to environmentally damaging activities like mining or logging
Community
- Employment opportunities for both young and elderly
- Expanded economic prospects
- Enhanced quality of life, with improved access to resources and services due to increased economic activity
- Development of local infrastructure, such as roads and utilities, improving connectivity and living standards
The film showcases the benefits, issues, and potential solutions; however, positive change can only be achieved through action!
REGULATIONS
The community has benefited despite the lack of regulations, but issues and uncertainty stem from this absence. Clear regulations would provide clarity to all stakeholders and facilitate the region and community's development.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Farmers need education on standardized processes for handling kratom leaves, as well as additional training in environmental sustainability, money management, and career options.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The kratom tree is incredibly beneficial, but it's not a solution to everything. The community needs a better understanding of how to protect the Kapuas River and other forests in the region.
COLLABORATION
There are many stakeholders eager to make a positive impact, yet there is minimal collaboration. We invite everyone to work together and set an example of how one industry can develop and improve the lives of people in the geographically isolated region of Kapuas Hulu.
