Daun Harapan (A Leaf of Hope), delves into the impact of the kratom trade on the economy, society, and environment of West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Through interviews with kratom farmers, local researchers, exporters and other key players in the industry, the film sheds light on the often unseen aspects of the kratom business. In addition to improving the lives of those involved, the plant also presents potential solutions to sustainability and environmental issues in the region. The film presents an optimistic vision of the role that kratom trees can play in shaping a more positive future for West Kalimantan.

Filmmaker
Yohana is a talented filmmaker from Indonesia with a background in architecture. After earning her BA degree she discovered her passion for filmmaking. She started as a wedding videographer in 2012 and through her work filming & editing hundreds of weddings, Yohana learned to create compelling narratives that were both authentic and personal to each couple. It really helped her hone her storytelling skills and master the art of capturing emotions.

Videographer
Sugianto is a passionate videographer who has a love for travel and exploring the beauty of Indonesia. With a keen eye for capturing unique perspectives and a natural talent for storytelling, he creates captivating videos that showcase the diverse culture and breathtaking landscapes of his home country. Whether he’s hiking to a remote waterfall or immersing himself in the bustling streets of Jakarta. Sugianto is always on the hunt for new and exciting experiences.
